Mastering Keyword Research
Keyword research is the foundation of SEO. It identifies what your audience is searching for so you can create content that ranks. Before writing, determine the search intent: Informational, Navigational, Commercial, or Transactional. Match your content format to the results already ranking for that term.
Targeting Strategy
New websites should prioritize long-tail keywords. These are specific phrases with lower search volume but higher conversion potential, making them easier to rank for than broad head terms.
The Workflow
- Brainstorm: List topics relevant to your business.
- Analyze: Use Google Autocomplete, People Also Ask, and Keyword Planner to identify real user queries.
- Filter: Use the V-I-C framework: Volume, Intent, and Competition.
Once selected, place your primary keyword naturally in your Title Tag, URL, H1, and H2 headers. Avoid keyword stuffing, which triggers spam filters. Finally, use Google Search Console to track performance. Remember: the goal is to solve the user's problem better than the competition.
